Dow Haltermann Custom Processing Named Accredited Producer by the National Biodiesel Accreditation Commission (NBAC) Midland, MI and Chelsea, MA - November 03, 2005 Dow Haltermann Custom Processing (DHCP), a Dow business unit comprised of operations within The Dow Chemical Company and Johann Haltermann, Ltd., was recently named an Accredited Producer by the National Biodiesel Accreditation Commission (NBAC). DHCP also received BQ-9000 certification, which combines the ASTM standard for biodiesel, ASTM D 6751, and a quality systems program that includes storage, sampling, testing, blending, shipping, distribution, and fuel management practices. BQ-9000 certification is open to any biodiesel manufacturer, marketer or distributor of biodiesel and biodiesel blends in the United States and Canada. "We have only been producing biodiesel for a year, and to be recognized as an Accredited Producer really speaks to our contract manufacturing capabilities and our commitment to quality," explained Simon Upfill Brown, general manager, DHCP. Achieving BQ-9000 certification compliments the ISO 9001:2000 certification previously received. "The value and versatility of the strong quality management system at DHCP shows our customers that all of our processes, including production processes, are driven toward continual improvement," said Russell Johnston, DHCP Quality Manager. "Minor enhancements to ISO 9001:2000 certification allows us to meet other quality standards that drive further improvement for specific projects." DHCP supplies biodiesel made in Houston, TX exclusively to World Energy Alternatives, LLC of Chelsea, Mass., the nation's leading biodiesel supplier. "DHCP's commitment to quality production as reflected in this BQ9000 certification, is at the heart of what we do every day to deliver quality, reliability, and scalability to the fast growing biodiesel marketplace," World Energy CEO and NBAC founding Commissioner, Gene Gebolys said. "DHCP is leading the way on quality as the nation's third BQ9000 producer and the first in World Energy's production portfolio." National Biodiesel Accreditation is awarded for two years following a successful formal review and audit of the capacity and commitment of the applicant to produce or market biodiesel fuel that meets the ASTM D-6751 Specification for Biodiesel Fuel (B100) Blend Stock for Distillate Fuels. The accreditation process is comprehensive and includes a detailed review of the applicant's Quality System documentation, followed by a formal audit of the applicant's conformance to its Quality System.
